Diagnosis Days
A Borderline Personality Disorder diagnosis, for me, was the most life-affirming, intimidating, and relieving diagnosis that my psychiatrist could have given me. For years, I’d be bounced around GPs, psychiatrists and therapists: was it depression? Was it bipolar? Was it anxiety? But finally, my wonderful therapist pieced together the puzzle and advocated for me to get a BPD diagnosis.
I don’t know about you, but my first port of call when ever I’m thrown any piece of information is the internet. So Dr Google is where I ended up after my diagnosis - desperately trying to find information, resources, people who had experienced what I was going through and what I could eventually go through, and generally just someone who understood. But that I could not find.
I even resorted to TikTok. Trying to understand my medication, diagnosis and experience through the means of 30 second videos that others had documented. I found comfort, fear and confusion in this place and decide enough is enough.
